How to check your bottles fit
Width. A standard Bordeaux bottle is about 3 in wide. Burgundy and Pinot Noir are about 3.3 in, Champagne about 3.5 in and a 1.5 L magnum about 4 in.
Slot. A bottle fits when it is a little narrower than the slot. Measure your widest bottle at its widest point.
Wall racks. A full 750 ml bottle weighs about 2.65 lb. Screw the rack into the studs (usually 16 in apart) or into masonry, never into drywall alone.
